Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons water, beer, milk, or dry white wine
  • Salt to taste, if desired
  • ½ teaspoon sugar

Method

  1. Place the mustard in a mixing bowl and gradually add the water or other liquid, stirring with a fork.
  2. Stir in the salt and sugar and let stand at least 10 minutes. This is essential because the mustard is bitter when it is first made. After standing it loses its bitter taste and develops flavor. The mustard may, of course, be diluted as desired with additional liquid.
