  • About

  • 6 whole eggs, separated
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup ground walnuts
  • 4 ounces sweet chocolate, softened
  • 3 tablespoons white bread crumbs
  • 2 extra egg whites
  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Chocolate Filling II
  • Chocolate Glaze I

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Whip the egg yolks together with sugar until foamy. Add ground walnuts, softened chocolate and bread crumbs.
  2. Whip all 8 egg whites until they form peaks. Very gently fold the egg whites into the first mixture.
  3. Butter a 10-inch torte pan 3 inches high, and sprinkle with flour. Pour the batter into the pan and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  4. After 20 minutes test with a fork; if it comes out clean, the cake is done; if not bake for a few more minutes. Cool.
  5. When the cake is cool, cut it into 2 layers. Fill the cake with some of the filling and spread some around the edges, but do not put any on the top.
  6. Spread the glaze on top of the torte. Place it in the refrigerator to cool before serving.
