Ingredients: Rice can be given an appealing color and fragrance by using saffron. Steep ¼ teaspoon saffron in 2 tablespoons hot water for a few minutes, and add it to the rice pot in the second step of cooking Plain White Rice. When turmeric is used, add ¼ teaspoon of it in the pot with the oil first, and stir until fragrant (a few moments), and then add rice, salt and water as directed in Plain White Rice, second step.
