Back in medieval times, such a dish would have been called rummaniyya (from rumman pomegranate) or narbaja (pomegranate stew), a trendier Persian name. Pomegranate syrup will give fish a lovely taste and color. for a similar stew cooked with red meat, andfor one with chicken.
