These are one of my favorite cookies/biscuits, delicately flavored with aniseed. They are relatively low in fat, and lightly sweetened.


  • cup (80 ml) water
  • 2 heaped tablespoons whole aniseeds


  • Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C/gas mark 5.
  • Boil aniseeds and water in a small pot for about 3 minutes. Let them steep for about 10 minutes, and then strain. Keep the liquid and discard the seeds.
