The following is a basic amount, enough to make one finjaan (cup) of coffee. It is traditionally made in a dalla, a small long-handled container with a wide base that tapers at the top. A small saucepan with a pouring lip may be used instead.

  • 1 heaped teaspoon finely ground coffee (not instant)
  • 1 level teaspoon sugar, or to taste

Method

  • Put coffee, sugar, cardamom, and water in the dalla. Stir with a teaspoon to allow sugar and coffee to blend.
