Method

In the bowl of an electric mixer, outfitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until light. Sift the dry ingredients together into a bowl and set aside.
Add the molasses and the egg to the creamed butter mixture and mix to combine, scraping the bottom and the sides of the bowl to ensure a well-blended mixture.
Add the dry ingredients
