Okay, this was inspired by a popular pancake chain restaurant. They always had myriad syrup options for pancakes, which inspired me to go beyond maple at home. The problem arose when I researched those syrups to see what was in them—so many additives and preservatives. I found the same thing at the grocery store for any syrup that wasn’t pure maple.
