Using stale bread with Depression Cake works pretty well. If you let the cake get good and cold, it is just like eating pudding. What is nice is you don’t have to do anything but let that bread soak up those juices and it will come out perfect.

2 cups sugar

Method

Clean strawberries, place in container with 1 cup of the sugar, and let sit overnight. Next day, butter a 10-inch springform cake pan, making sure to cover the entire ring and the bottom pan well. With a little extra sugar, sprinkle pan well and shake off excess.
