Grunts are one of those great “Grandma” desserts that trace their history back to Colonial times. They are in the large family of desserts that includes crisps, cobblers, betties, pandowdies, and slumps, which consist of fruit cooked in combination with some sort of crust (on top, on the bottom, or both) or dumpling.
