At El Buganvil, a popular paladar located on the outskirts of Havana, we enjoyed an excellent coconut ice cream attractively served in coconut shells. Coconut is a popular ingredient in Cuban desserts and sweets. That very morning at a farmers market, we had watched a vendor crack coconut shells and use a crank-style grater to shred the fresh coconut flesh. Some coconut confections are just too sweet for me, but this ice cream is delicate and refreshing enough to be topped with anoth
