Palma Cristal, with its distinctive green label and palm tree logo, is the most popular beer in Cuba. It is a light, refreshing, medium-dry Pilsner-style beer, the perfect compliment to Cuban food. At hotels and tourist restaurants, a bottle of Cristal costs the convertible peso equivalent of about three dollars U.S.

  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle beer
  • Juice of 2 limes (about ½ cup)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • Lime slices

Place the beer, lime juice, sugar, and ice in a blender and pulse until frothy. Serve in chilled tall glasses garnished with the lime slices.
