Cookies are quite simple to make and can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week. Kids really enjoy getting involved in the preparation of this recipe, particularly breaking off lumps of dough to make the cookies.
Cream the butter and sugar together by hand or in a food processor or mixer until light and fluffy. Slowly add the beaten egg, scraping down the sides of the bowl from time to time. Carefully fold in the flour, baking powder, vanilla extract and chocolate buttons. Leave the mixture to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes or so, until it is pliable but not solid.
