Compote is very French and so is my friend Sophie. In France, when fruit is in abundance in season it is often made into a compote, to be eaten immediately or preserved in jars. Sophie likes to add a little orange flower water, which she says helps her children sleep. You can use this recipe for other fruit, such as peaches, apples, pears and plums. It’s a great way of introducing fruit into the diet.
