Traditional chocolate truffles are made with cream and booze; this easy child-friendly version is made with low-fat French-style soft goat’s cheese, antioxidant-boosting cacao, protein powder and energy-boosting dates sneaked in for natural sweetness and flavour.

Ingredients

  • 50 g/2 oz/ cup dark (bittersweet) chocolate, broken into pieces

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate in a shallow dish set over a pan of gently simmering water.
  2. Add the dates to a food processor and blitz until a smooth paste forms. Add the goat’s cheese, coconut, cacao and protein powder then spoon in the maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon. Blitz briefly together then add the melted chocolate and blitz until just mixed.
