Packed with fibre and natural fruit sugars, ready-to-eat dried figs make a great store cupboard alternative to fresh Medjool dates and mixed with spirulina and sea salad they become the most incredibly dark, almost Halloween-style power balls that are bursting with essential minerals.


  • 110 g/4 oz/1 cup buckwheat flakes

  1. Add the buckwheat flakes, figs and ginger to a food processor and blend until very finely chopped.
  2. Add the tahini, spirulina and sea salad then the soya milk, blend until well mixed and beginning to clump together.
  3. Squeeze the mixture into a ball, take out of the food processor and cut into 20 pieces. Roll each piece in the palm of your hands to make
