  • 1½ lb (700 g) molasses
  • 8 oz (225

Method

Bring the molasses to the boil in a pan, add the lard, ginger and salt, and mix well. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in 1 tablespoon hot water and add to the pan. Stir, then leave to cool.
