Dim sum at home can be easy; it’s not all about tricksy dumpling making. Your best bet for dough-wrapped packages is to buy them from Asian stores, ready-made (frozen or fresh), then steam them with your own home-made things, and palm them off as your own.
Combine all the ingredients except the mushrooms and green part of the spring onions in a bowl, then toss the mushrooms in the mixture until well coated. Tip the mushrooms, along with any collected liquids, on to a plate that will fit your steamer tray. Steam for 10 minutes and serve with the shredded spring onion.
