There is nothing better than simplicity perfected. This basted rib eye is the first recipe I recommend for those new to cooking over the fire. It is both delicious and easy. Make sure your fire is hot enough for a good sear (see for checking temperatures). If you are adventurous, make the basting sauce with beef tallow, which is becoming easier to find in more and more grocery stores. Otherwise, use your favorite butter.
