Eliza Smith’s recipe ‘To make the true Daffy’s Elixir’ contains many of the same ingredients as usquebaugh plus some a few extra ingredients some of which have laxative properties (like senna, which for obvious reasons are not included here). As the recipe below clearly isn’t as complex as the original Daffy’s Elixir it felt wrong to give it that name. I received some interesting suggestions for its name on various social media channels but
