Asma Abu Daff gave this recipe to Laila, describing it as a classic but little-known springtime dish to be made when okra is not in season. It’s not clear what green almonds have to do with okra, but Abu Daff says that’s the idea.

This stew may also be made with a yogurt base: simply reduce the quantity of broth by two-thirds and compensate by whisking in strained yogurt that has been left out overnight to s
