  • About

This Palestinian spin on the quintessentially Egyptian bread pudding Um Ali, or “Ali’s mother,” uses strips of whole-wheat griddle bread rather than puff pastry, as they do in Egypt. Several grandmas attest that it is more commonly served for breakfast during the winter than as a dessert, though it works nicely for either purpose.
