  • About

This is the easiest way to serve gari. Simply boil the water separately and then bring it to the table in a pitcher and let each person serve him or herself individually.

  • ¼ cup dry gari per person

  1. Heat about ½ to ¾ cup water per person to boiling and pour into a pitcher.
  2. Spoon or pour about ¼ cup of dry gari on each individual plate.
  3. Sprinkle each serving of the gari with ½ to ¾ cup boiling or hot water (more or less to taste). Stir the water and gari on the plate and allow to rest for a couple of minutes until it swells to about 3 times its size. Add additional water if it seems too thick, or additional gari if it seems too watery.

To serve

Eat with a stew or sauce on top or to the side of the gari.

Mix the gari and water together in a serving bowl first, allow the gari to absorb the water, and serve directly to the plate.
