When you make Choucroute Alsatian style (see recipe), it’s unlikely you’ll waste 4 hours making just a little bit. So undoubtedly you’ll have the 2 leftover cups you will need to concoct this curious, warming, soothing soup. I think it was originally a Hungarian notion, but I first tasted it in Germany. I was told it is good for drunkenness, hangover, gastric gurglings, and just about everything except red hair
