Method

Fill oven-proof earthenware dish with oven-toasted rounds of French bread; cover each layer with freshly-grated Gruyère cheese; fill the bowl with well-flavoured onion soup and bake in a pre-heated hot oven (450°F. Mark 7) until cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
