Slice rump steak thinly across the grain. Wash mushrooms and slice thinly. Chop onion coarsely. Put meat and vegetables in a shallow heat-proof dish. Combine soy sauce, olive oil, cornflour and dry white wine and pour over meat and vegetables. Season to taste with freshly-ground black pepper and place dish in steamer or on a rack in a large saucepan with about 2 inches of rapidly boiling water.
