  • 4 slices bread

Method

Wash and pick 1 ounce of currants and scatter a few in the bottom of a well-buttered quart baking dish. Trim crusts from 4 slices of bread; cut each slice in half; butter each piece generously and place in layers in baking dish, scattering currants between each layer.
