Thoroughly wash the chicken pieces. Fry the bacon in a large pot. As the bacon is getting done, add the onion, celery, and bell pepper, and Stir-fry until the onion is clear. Add the chicken pieces, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme, and cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring often. Add the water and boil gently for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Rinse
