If I have a guilty pleasure—aside from eating hot dogs 24/7, that is—it is snacking on these. I can’t seem to get enough of their irresistible texture and flavor. They’re as delicious on any hot dog as they are out of hand.

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup

Method

  1. Heat oil in a large pot to 375°F.
  2. Combine milk and egg in a bowl. In another bowl, combine ¿our, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Working in batches, dip onions in milk mixture to coat and then dip them straight in ¿our mixture to coat. Transfer to a plate until all the onions are coated.
