Roti John is best described as a crispy baguette with an alluring fragrance from caramelised meat and onions wrapped into a beautiful parcel with golden fried eggs, drizzled with a ketchup mixture added as a finishing touch.


  • ½ large baguette
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp sambal chilli


  1. Slice baguette in half, spread it open and toast lightly. Set aside.
  2. Beat eggs in a bowl and season with sambal chilli, pepper and salt. Mix well. Set aside.
  3. Season meat with cumin powder and mix well. Set aside.
  4. Combine ingredients for sauce in a bowl.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over low heat. Add garlic and onion, and stir-fry lightly.
