Maple sugar, available in many gourmet shops and well-stocked supermarkets, has a rich, mellow, concentrated sweetness. If you can’t find it, maple syrup or dark brown cane sugar will do. For extra sweetness, sprinkle dried cranberries on top along with the walnuts.
