Mackerel is a real summer fish. They spawn in spring, west of Ireland, and then they swim in giant schools to the North Sea. They are real hunters that swim just below sea level. I’ve once fished for them myself. We kept an eye on the seagulls. Wherever they circled above the water, that’s where the mackerel swam. Both on the prowl.
With a little boat, we glided closer and bounced our fishing rods, the lines decorated with glimmering pieces of shiny foil, up and down in the water. I
