The evening was sultry and humid the way only a tropical night can be - the sky a brilliant black with an endless expanse of tiny white flecks of stars. I walked along the narrow road that followed the beach until I could go no further, until I tracked down the smoky, spicy smells calling to me from a restaurant that appeared to be no more than a shack. There was no menu, just chilli-spiced grilled meats, succulent and flavourful. This is what we ate.
