  • About

Love-O and the khas sharbat, unlike the preceding ones, are made from essences. Love-O has a flavour similar to that of Vimto. It is easily made and is a useful soft drink for day to day use. It is very much liked by children because of its deep purple colour. It is very suitable for large gatherings as it can be easily prepared and stored in advance.

  • lb (680 g) sugar
  • ¼ oz (7 g) tartaric acid
  • 2 teaspoonfuls Love-o essence (Atlas Co.)
  • ¾ pt (480 mils) water
  • teaspoonfuls Vitoso colouring (Clayton & Jowett) or
  • 2 teaspoonfuls Vino + teaspoonfuls of raspberry colouring (W. J. Bush & Co.)

Mix sugar, water and tartaric acid and simmer till they are fully dissolved. Boil the syrup rapidly to one-thread consistency. Cool. Add colouring and the essence. Pour into sterilised bottles and cork with cleaned and boiled tops and seal with paraffin wax.
