Lacy Pancake

In North Sumatra, this pancake is eaten with lamb korma. Roti jala is not very well known in other islands, except in the capital, Jakarta, where you can find food and cooking of all the islands of Indonesia. People in North Sumatra will say that this is a Malay recipe – as opposed to Chinese; I myself am never quite sure whether the recipe first came here from Malaysia, or, like so many other Indonesian recipes, was taken to Malaysia from Sumatra.
