These star-shaped cookies are infused with kirsch—a clear, colorless cherry brandy from Germany—and a little cream for extra richness.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp.

Method

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside. In another bowl and using an electric hand mixer, cream butter and sugar on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes; set aside. In a large bowl, beat almond paste at medium-high speed until smooth; add ¼ of butter mixture and beat until smooth. Add remaining butter mixture and beat until smooth.
