  • About

This ice cream is made with real licorice—not the candy. It may not appeal to everyone, but licorice-lovers will find its strength intoxicating.

Ingredients

  • 3-inch piece licorice
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 vanilla beans

Method

  1. Chop the licorice coarsely, then grind it as finely as possible in a spice or coffee grinder.
  2. Rinse a medium saucepan and leave it wet. Add the milk, vanilla seeds, and 1 tablespoon of the ground licorice. Turn the heat to medium-high and bring just to a boil, stirr
