Charosset is a paste of fruit that is held together with sweet wine. It is eaten during the Pesach ritual meal, or seder. This recipe is the classic combination of apple, walnut and sweet wine that is favoured by a shkenazi Jews.

Ingredients

  • 3 apples
  • 75–115 g/3–4 oz/¾–1 cup

Method

  1. Quarter the apples and remove their cores but do not peel them. Grate them by hand or chop the fruit very finely using a sharp knife.

  2. Put the apples and all the remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Tip into a serving bowl
