Strawberries with Candied Ginger

This is a sharp but refreshing finish to any meal, elegant and very easy to prepare. It requires no cooking and all the work can be done several hours in advance. Serve it after a family meal or a party for friends.

Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) fresh strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Method

  1. Wipe the strawberries with a damp cloth and hull. Cut in half and toss gently with the sugar.
  2. If using stem ginger, drain off the syrup. Finely chop the ginger and toss gently with the strawberries. Add the orange liqueur and toss again.
  3. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. P<
