Although not as popular as white rice, brown rice is gaining ground. Essentially brown rice is unpolished white rice. The outer layer of bran is left intact along with most of the nutrients that are stripped away when refining. It has a nutty taste and takes a longer time to cook than white rice. A good way to introduce brown rice is to mix it with white rice.
