Every Southern gathering has its staples, but something about this salad always drew me in as a child. When I make it today, it’s not just tender chicken chunks or golden, buttery pecans that delight me; instead, it’s the scrapbook of memories found into each bite. Enjoy on a bed of greens or between slices of your favorite bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (280 g) diced cooked chicken
  • ½ cup (115

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, mayonnaise, pecans, celery, grapes, lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir well so all the ingredients are coated.
  2. Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least 2 hours before serving.
  3. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
