This is the antipasto of choice in Friuli in September, when figs are at their peak. After a summer of sunshine, the figs heat up as they hang on the trees. When freshly picked, a hot fig provides a degree of pleasure that makes one forget all other pleasures (and I mean all). You may serve this recipe as a nice appetizer. Double the portion for a decadent lunch. For more portions, simply multiply by the number of diners. Thin plain bread sticks go well here.
