  • 450 g/1 lb strawberries
  • 225 g/8 oz mascarpone
  • 2 tablespoons maraschino or kirsch
  • sugar, white and brown for sprinkling


    Slice the strawberries in half into 4 small gratin dishes. Sprinkle white sugar on top to taste, plus the maraschino or kirsch divided evenly between the dishes. Cover with mascarpone and sprinkle with brown sugar. Place under a very hot grill until the sugar is caramelized. Serve hot.

    This dish can also be made with mixed red fruits.
