I can’t bear these gaudy, over-sweet confections, and this is one craze that has entirely passed me by. My daughter, though, disagrees and is obsessed with the things. So we spent an afternoon making the cake batter, baking, then decorating, and she was in utter heaven. I enjoyed myself, too, and it’s become a regular, if messy, way to spend a wet Saturday afternoon. I’ve gone for a pink-tinted white chocolate icing, but you can use any colour you like. As for decorations – edible silver ba
