Grease the bottom and sides of the slow cooker container. Preheat the covered cooker on HIGH while you assemble the ingredients.
Put the sugar and cornflour in the cooker. Slowly whisk in the milk, and continue whisking until the sugar and cornflour dissolve – make sure there are not any lumps. Stir in the rice and salt.
