A slow cooker really comes into its own at Christmas. Use it to make or reheat the pudding, freeing up hob space. To reheat, cover with cling film and foil as below, add to the cooker on an upturned saucer and pour enough boiling water into the container to come halfway up the side of the basin. Cover and reheat on HIGH for 3 hours.

Method

Put the raisins, currants, sultanas and brandy in a bowl. Leave to stand for 30 minutes. Add all the remaining ingredients and stir.

Meanwhile, put an upturned heatproof saucer in the slow cooker. Grease a 1 l/35 f
