Dessert for breakfast? Why not! Especially if it contains nuts or chocolate (yes, please!) or other sweet surprises. This creamy hot cereal is made with quick-cooking rolled oats, so it can be on the table in mere minutes. With so many options to choose from, you could serve a different version every morning of the week.
Put the milk, oats, water, and salt in a medium saucepan (preferably nonstick) and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Decrease the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until thickened and the oats are cooked, 2 minutes. Serve immediately or remove from the heat, cover, and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
