This is an ideal all-in-one main course. It is to be found on restaurant and hotel menus throughout America, where it is offered with a variety of dressings. The only thing it generally lacks is a contrasting texture, so for a crunch I like to add dry-roasted peanuts, or better still, dry-roasted cashew nuts.
Cut the chicken, ham and cheese into fine strips, as evenly as possible. Tear the washed lettuce into bits, using your fingers, and arrange round the sides of a serving bowl.
Put the strips of chicken, ham and cheese in the middle of the bowl. Sprinkle the nuts over the whole bowl. Pour over the dressing, and gently toss the chicken, ham and cheese, trying not to break up the neatly cut
