Along with Pogacha (Braided Rich Bread), pita is our most common daily bread, and almost always served alongside mezze, especially with dips. I make these grilled flatbreads a few times a week since my children love them. Freshly made, they go well with nearly everything.

Ingredients

  • teaspoons (7 g) active-dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon white sugar

Method

Place the warm water in a small bowl and add the yeast and sugar. Cover the bowl with a plate and let stand until the yeast begins to foam, about 10 minutes.
