This bread is hearty and comforting. One of my favorite breakfasts is a few toasted slices of walnut bread with butter and jam and a steaming cup of planenski chai (mountain tea), made from a flower similar to chamomile that grows wild in the mountains of Macedonia.
Place the warm water in a small bowl and stir in the yeast and sugar. Cover the bowl with a plate and let stand until the yeast begins to foam, 10 minutes.
In another small bowl, whisk together the honey and oil.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and chopped walnuts. Make a well in the center. Pour the yeast mixture and the honey mixture into the center of the well.
